ASINs classified as adult products are restricted from appearing in general search results and are visible only to customers who have enabled adult content in their account settings. This gating is applied automatically based on product category, keywords, and image content.

Amazon EU Compliance Requirements

CE Documentation Package

For Amazon.de, Amazon.fr, Amazon.it, Amazon.es, and Amazon.nl, every adult wellness product must carry a valid CE mark backed by a complete technical file. The minimum documentation set Amazon EU compliance teams request:

1. CE Declaration of Conformity (DoC) — must reference all applicable directives: EMC Directive 2014/30/EU, Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU, and RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU. EU Responsible Person

As of July 2021 (EU Product Safety Regulation), products sold on Amazon EU must have an EU Responsible Person — a natural or legal person established in the EU who can be contacted by market surveillance authorities. Amazon US Compliance Requirements

FDA Material Safety

Amazon US does not require FDA device registration for personal care products (adult wellness devices are not classified as medical devices under FDA regulations). However, Amazon US compliance teams increasingly request material safety documentation for skin-contact products.

The required documents for Amazon US:

1. Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) — for silicone and ABS materials, confirming skin-contact safety and absence of harmful plasticizers, phthalates, and heavy metals.

2. FDA 21 CFR 177.2600 Compliance Statement — confirming that the silicone material meets FDA standards for food-contact and skin-contact applications. Issued as part of the supplier's material safety documentation package or as a third-party SGS test report.

3. REACH SVHC Screening Report — confirming that no Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) are present above 0.1% concentration. Required for products sold on Amazon EU and increasingly requested for Amazon US.

FCC ID for BLE/Wireless Devices

Any product containing a 2.4 GHz BLE module (or any intentional radio transmitter) sold in the US must carry FCC authorization. For Amazon US listings, the FCC ID must appear in the product listing and on the product label or in the user manual. Products without FCC documentation will be flagged during Amazon's compliance review process.

Amazon UK Requirements

Post-Brexit, the UK has its own conformity assessment system. Amazon UK requires:

UKCA Mark — replacing the CE mark for products placed on the UK market after January 1, 2023. Technically, the UKCA mark requires UK-specific conformity assessment, but Amazon UK currently accepts CE documentation for most product categories, with UKCA documentation required for new product registrations.

UK Responsible Person — similar to the EU RP requirement. Must be established in the UK. If you are selling directly via Amazon UK FBA, Amazon itself can serve as the UK RP under certain fulfillment arrangements.

Packaging Requirements for Amazon FBA Adult Products

Amazon FBA packaging for adult products must meet two separate sets of requirements: standard FBA packaging requirements, and adult product-specific packaging standards.

Discreet outer packaging: The shipping carton and outer retail box must not contain any images, text, or branding that identifies the product as an adult product. No product photography, no suggestive graphics, no model names that reference adult content. The outer packaging should look like a standard personal care or wellness product box.

FBA barcode labeling: Each unit must carry a scannable FNSKU barcode. Adult products must be in poly-bag or sealed packaging that prevents product inspection at the fulfillment center. Clear poly-bags are acceptable if the product inside is in an opaque box.

Suffocation warning: Any poly-bag with an opening larger than 5 inches must carry a suffocation warning label, either printed on the bag or attached as a sticker.

Battery compliance: Products with lithium batteries must include the UN 38.3 transport test summary and the battery specification sheet. Amazon FBA has specific labeling requirements for lithium battery products including the watt-hour (Wh) rating on the outer carton.
